You are not starting from scratch.

On missing classes, summer chaos, and the one thing actually worth protecting.

Every summer I have the same chat at the studio.

Someone catches me after class, diary in hand, looking a little worried.

The grandchildren are coming. We are away for three weeks. The visitors will not stop!

And then the real question. If I miss a few weeks, am I back to square one?

Let me put your mind at rest. Because this summer, I am in the same boat as you.

I am running a retreat next week. The boys are off school. Some of my own classes are going to be missing from the schedule, and I have already said sorry for it. Trying to be in two places at once! Turns out it is impossible.

So this is not me preaching from a perfect routine. It is just the honest answer.

You are not starting from scratch. You never are.

Strength you have built over months does not disappear because you went away for a bit. Muscle is stubborn. It does not pack a bag and leave because you did.

What actually fades is not the strength. It is the habit. And that is the real risk of summer. Not the missed classes. The quiet decision that you have fallen off, so you may as well wait until September.

The people who struggle in September are never the ones who missed a couple of weeks in July. They are the ones who stopped completely, and then had to talk themselves into starting all over again.

So do not let the habit be the thing you lose.

When you are back in the Algarve, get back in the habit. Get yourself booked into class.

And if you are here on holiday, do not press pause. Keep the habit going. Come to class! We have got Reformers, we have got Towers, and we would love to have you.

That is it. That is the whole secret.

See you when you can get here.

Victoria
